Punch Drunk Lab Rat!

What I am trying to do.......

It awaits me.....it calls my name....

What I have done~~~this was navy blue and burgundy (ack)!

I painted it black as seen here but the rest awaits me and it's taking over my home!

What I have been doing (errr..... rather be doing)~~~~~ignore the mess!

Because all this darned medication has me feeling like this~~punch drunk!
The doctors aren't sure what I have~~~first they put me on Lyrica because they thought I was having symptoms of Hepetic neuralgia post Shingles which was what they thought was causing all of the numbness and pain in the left side of my face, shoulder and arms....then they tested me for Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis,
then they said I have Raynauds syndrome because my hand keep turning blue! I am serious!
(no shit) Now they say I have TOS Thoracic Outlet Syndrome!

I have to see a Vascular specialist next week (ugh)!

Not sure if I want to see him but my hand keeps doing this----(not my hand but similar)

All I know is I feel like a lab rat these days....xrays, MRI's, lab work and next week possibly an angiogram? (WTF?)
OK so there you have my life story not very interesting but I am starting to feel like a medical
freak!!! All the medical specialists out there and it has taken them 11 months! to figure this
out? If they had just listened to me the first time maybe, I wouldn't be feeling like a lab
rat! Anyway, hopefully next week we can get down to the real issue and get it resolved once and
for all!!! Wish me luck!
(PS I am a nurse and I have never heard of TOS~~~google it if you want to know what it is!)
Hugs French;) xoxoxo

Hope they figure it out soon. I'm sure you have researched it on your own, but try CureZone.com maybe you can find something there. Now off the subject, where did you get your dining chairs?

Hi Lisa, I just googled it. So are you going to physical therapy?...and it says you are supposed to REST! Please take care, my dear. I dont like reading stuff like that because then I start to get the symptoms too!..."Oh yeah, that must be what I have!"...geez...wierd,..I know! Be good! ~Cindy~
p.s. Are you ever going to let me finish my "investigation" in Blogville?......and what about that hot guy I left the Ball with....a girl can wait only for so long....! Pam Tanna

Hmmm, I've never heard of TOS either. But when I went to the TOS website obviously there are a lot of sufferers because the counter on the page had over 400,000 visitors. It sounds to me like you need to take it easy and relax. The revamping of the sailboat was a good idea. Now for those drapes....I still have to recover my dining room chairs. Hopefully, I'll get my a** in gear this weekend and get to them. Take Care! ~ Robyn

French, I had no idea this was so serious. I say,,,,,,,screw all your project and rest. Your body is sending you some bad signals. Your a nurse, listen up, little one. Take care.

Sounds frustrating! Take care, relax. And if you didn't get to the PArade of Home sthis years, you didn't miss much in my opinions, but it makes for some good web surfing. Go to "the Lite House" site and the POH 2008 link.

Wow! I don't know what to say! I hope you get some answers and get this taken care of.

And the sailboat looks great and I feel horrible commenting in it when you have health issues! lol.

Well yuck, French. But the lying down with the chitlens looks good, however!

Hope it gets figured out....soon!

to be trivial...your dining room looks GREAT!

I've never heard of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome either. I doubt anyone has. I keep hearing stories like your where the freakin' frackin' doctors have no clue what is going on. I think they just throw a dart at their medical journal and tell you that is what you have. Do these guys even go to med school before they get licensed. Are we all getting different ailments these days? I can remember the good old days of going to the doctor and they would tell you what was wrong and send you home with the necessary medicine. Maybe it is just because we are all getting to the age where these things crop up. It is frightening that you can't get someone to just fix you.
Now my rantings remind me of something a little old lady would say (oh yeah, I am an old lady!)
Hope they find the right test to give you and you find out what to do to feel better soon.

girl...I am worried about you! take care of yourself...and you really do look cute on the couch!
if I can do anything for you...you know where to find me...

Bo said...

Oh my goodness...that hand looks awful so I'm guessing so does yours. You must have some really good insurance and the docs are milking it for all they can then they'll "fix" you...I know, I'm cynical...Do you ever watch the TV show "House" about that grumpy doc who is a genius at diagnosing everyone...I want him when I need a doc! Sending you big love, ;-) Bo

OK Frenchie I am soooooo worried about you now... I have never heard of that either.. I am hoping for you to feel better soon and find out it is nothing serious... Take it easy and rest... Getting well is the first thing you should be concerned about little lady... Is there anything I can do for you at all??? Love Ya

Lisa, I hope and pray you get answers very soon and they can help you. I know what you mean about the laying around. That's what I've been doing for over a month. The last couple of days have been getting better, finally. I have been on so.. many drugs that I didn't know up from down. I did the same thing. The day they finally got me in for a MRI I went into the doctors office crying like a baby. I asked them to tell me where.. I had to go for help. They got the MRI approved right away. Why does a person have to go though so much to get help???

I love what you did to the ship. It looks great. I haven't felt like doing anything yet. For the past week and 1/2 I have been walking approx. 3 miles per day. I want to be able to just let my arm hang. Now, I am doing strengthing excercises. They seem to be helping a little. Iam so.. sick of this.

Thinking of you!! xoxoxo Terrie

This makes me so upset when doctors don't listen to their patients!

I'm so sorry to hear how sick you are. It's so frustrating when it takes forever to get it figured out. My son had a few swollen fingers and one toe last winter and they also checked him for arthritis and it came back neg. The doctor still didn't figure out what was wrong with him. His fingers are normal right now but I'm still worried about what it could have been or if it will be back. I pray they will come up with a simple, treatable conclusion for you. God Bless ya girl!!

Hi Frenchiness! Oh, I'm so sorry you have this mess - I've never heard of it before. Just rest and maybe the next doctor will fix you up! You do look rather cute on the sofa!
Be a sweetie,

Darn girl, this isn't funny. I'm sorry you're going through all these strange symptons! I'd feel crazy too. I didn't google it, but it sounds like something coming from the spine? Hmmmm... Hope it's controllable. A neruosurgeon once thought I had syringomila (if that's how you spell it). Thank goodness I didn't but it's cysts on the spine that causes strange symptoms. Anyway, all I had was a bad back that was so bad I couldn't stand because my legs were tired of doing all the work. I could have told them that! Enuf of me. I think you're so cute in that pic. Your home is awesome and you make it more special everyday. I wish we loved close so I could actually hang with you sometime. I'll check your blog to see what they find out about your health. Best wishes Frenchie girl.
Hugs, Penny

Lisa, I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Naz, put it very well... and I 'ditto' what she said - "Please rest and don't worry about projects or blogs. Your health is the most important thing.
Take as much time as you need."

When I googled TOS, one source stated that one cause could be from long-term use of computer at incorrect height. Would this apply to you? I know it does me.

Take good care of yourself. :-)

I have heard of Raynauds Syndrome my daughter Gianna was tested for it. She also is a lab rat! She has had so many tests done in the last year it's scary! I am not sure why they tested her for it?? I think because one of her levels came back abnormal and she was havings limb weekness. I will pray for you! I hope you feel better soon!

Actually French I have TOS. To me when it was acting up it felt like cardiac pain. I felt it in my chest really bad. Scared me to death but I was glad to find out it wasn't my heart! I've been told that I have RA and then told later that it's just arthritis. I feel for you. I've been there myself. It took me about seven years also to be diagnosed with hypothyroidism! The tests just weren't as good back then and I actually ended up at the University of Utah Medical Center for it!! Insanity. I hope they find out soon what's going on. Oh, and not to be a copy cat but I have Raynaud's also and the hands do look even freakier than that picture when it acts up. Gloves for me when it gets even slightly cold outside. Take care.

My heart goes out to you French and I can relate to your frustration.

I've been going around in circles with the medical system lately with a mom, dad and brother in and out of the hospital. It's enough to drive you crazy !!!! - kind like that hilarious cat (or is it dog )on the couch picture your posted !

Sure it's not lupus - it can manifest itself in many ways. The hands looked alot like my girlfriend's
hands who has lupus.

Keep your chin up !

Stopping in to say I hope you're feeling a little better. I remembered something about the thoracic outlet syndrome. I have an extra cervical rib that was contributing to it. I'm sure they've probably checked this out with you but it wouldn't hurt to mention it to them. Take care and let us know if they find out anything that can help.

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear of your illness and hopefully your symptoms will be diagnosed soon.

As you have mentioned a lot of testing; may I ask you a question?
When your hands and feet are subjected to warm water soaking, do they 'prune/shrivel'? IF NOT, you may wish to mention this to your Specialist as it can be a significant clue for a specific Neurological diagnosis. (As the test is so simple it is often overlooked.)

In the mean time sweetie, just
'coast' and 'relax' when you can. Many hugs of feeling better!
