I Hate Hurricane Season!

I have, as everyone else is I am sure, been bombarded with the fact that Gustav is quickly growing strength and turning into another Katrina! August 29th of 2005 Katrina devastated so many lives and homes...I cried so many times watching the footage...we had even offered our home for a family to live that needed it! Now I watch as Gustav approaches with such a rage and gaining strength! I can only hope that this time the residents any where near this massive hurricane have been smart enough to flee! My heart goes out to all the families that have had to endure this yet again....I can only hope that this time at least it will not turn out to be the fiasco it was back in 2005! We have friends in the area one of which I know has had to leave their home and I pray for their safety! Let us all pray and hope this doesn't turn into yet another American tragedy! This hurricane has already done so much damage and taken lives, my only hope is with the power of prayer perhaps we can help somehow, someone, just a little.....

Thank You for the Overwhelming Kindness;)

So sorry if I confused everyone with yesterday's post! I promise it was not intentional! I had been informed that the episode of RMS that was filmed here would be airing. The state newspaper also wanted to publish a story to coincide with the show, so the newspaper called and confirmed it with the producers at HGTV! Well for whatever reason the date and show was rescheduled to a later date, September 11th! No biggie I just really felt bad for the reporter more than anything! This actually allows more time to plan a get together with neighbors and friends, and YOU are ALL invited!! Nikki says she wants to be the first to laugh at my dorky azz (he he) Most offered to have wine with me, I suggest you just knock me out and wake me when it's over! Justine really just wants to check out my hubby some more (lol)!! Hey what's up with not answering the poll I am taking? I know more of you have visited than voted! Be honest, I can take it! I find it funny that most want to talk decorating since there are so many out there so much better than I am at teaching it, or even doing it! Heck I am still learning myself! You really have no idea how much it meant to me to have had the outpouring of well wishes! I am truly thankful and grateful more than words could ever express~~~

Hugs and love French;)

D-Day~~~Yikes! Change in Plans

Ok Ladies I am now getting nervous! (sips wine)! Thursday, September 11th is our "big" debut on the
Rate My Space show!
I haven't really thought about it until now, and now I am nervous as all get out! I have no idea what we (DH and I) look like on the screen, how dorky we may appear, and we are sweating over here! Our local newspaper also got wind of the story via my Interior Design teacher (Diane) so there will also be an article in the newspaper tomorrow! (sips more wine) The taping was a blast as was the couple we met via teleconferencing! Angelo of course was AMAZING! He is so cool and so real, and well so very good at what he does! It's been months waiting to see the makeover and I can't wait! Promise to not make fun of us;) (gulps wine now) This is the last show of this season so I hope it ends with a bang! (and not a bust!)

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it will all be fine! With so much negative stuff going on it's nice to have something positive to look forward to!
I personally want to thank EVERYONE for all your help and support on RMS and here in blogland! This would have never happened without so much input I received from the RMS gals;) A special thanks to Kiakai who was here with me through it all, thick and thin and everything in between!
It truly was a fun experience which I look forward to telling my grandchildren about in the years to come;)
PS If you haven't visited Twice as Nice they could use some prayers, please drop in and send them!
Hugs, Lisa and Gordon xoxox

My Dog and Cat Diaries.....shhh don't tell them I showed you!

DOG DIARY
8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00 PM - Lunch! My favorite thing!
1:00 PM - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00 PM - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00 PM - Milk bones! My favorite thing!
7:00 PM - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00 PM - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00 PM - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

CAT DIARY
Day 6,111 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this
means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around her feet as she was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. She is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return.
She is obviously retarded!

Yes these are both mine and both females~~~they tolerate eachother but the cat is very old! She is almost 17! The cat is tortoise-shell, and the dog is brindle...they match (lol) wasn't planned that way either! Got this email a while back and thought it was funny! Hope you all get a good chuckle;)

Before...Afters... and still In Progress!!!

Kitchen before and after a few tweaks!
New table and chairs, stained existing picture frames darker, sewed a new valance better yes?
The entry before the new chest and painted walls and door!
The new added chest;)
The painted black door! I actually should have taken another pic because we have since removed the white mutins from the side windows and have added a really cool patterned glass!

My bathroom that got so many great reviews on RMS and I still can't figure out why because it's nothing special!
Now it's this with the walls painted slightly darker and more touches of coral throughout!
We actually would like to tear out the whole thing and start over! Maybe one day;0)

Do any of you remember this from RMS? My Laundry Room before picture isn't it hideous! LOL!
Ahh this is much better...still need new machines though...
Voila! Finally! As some of you may know or may not know the day we got back from Jamaica my washer flooded the laundry room! Of course because I had 40 million loads of laundry to do! Needless to say we HAD to buy new ones...Tally still can't get use to all the funny noises!

This was hard to find but it's the first picture of our living room only 3 days after moving in! You may have to click this picture to get a better view!

Then this....before the large wall was painted and I had a bad "mistreatment" happening!
Now this! Much better but have some more ideas for this room;)
Looking in from the entry not bad but still needs some tweaks!

My first RMS bedroom picture....yes they totally crucified this room! It was still in progress!
I then got this point!
And finally here! Then I began reading about the British Colonial style, and found my inspiration bed!
Another work still in progress!

So many projects still in progress!! Does it ever end? Will I ever be satisfied? Always looking to improve and re-do! I have learned so much from RMS, blogging friends and my Interior Design class! I still doubt myself at times and have to stop doing that! My gut is usually right! Now that I have bored you all to tears, suggestions anyone? Not doing anything any time soon but always like ideas!

Until next time!

None of that Sissy Crap!

Friendship

Are you getting tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good,
But never actually come close to reality?

Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.
You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this post....
Just the stone cold truth of our friendship.

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well. Again, I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall ---- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask;
" because you are my friend ".

Friendship is like peeing your pants,
everyone can see it,
But only you can feel the true warmth.

Much love and thanks for all the support of my blogging and non-blogging friends who visit and leave me feeling "warm and fuzzy" all the time;)

Our Shop

Well here is where I have been spending all my time! We have a small glass business here in South Carolina. Before we moved from Canada, my husband was known as a "journeyman" in his trade as a Glazier and Metal mechanic. He has 2 year college degree and had to have over 9000 hours for his apprenticeship! When we moved here we decided to try and open our own business because he was tired of working for other people who knew nothing about the business! Well initially we had two other partners and now we are on our own! Struggling hard but staying afloat.....barely!

This is just a small example of the detailed work he does! He is so very talented! This was about 12 hours worth of work all the hand drawing, etching, sandblasting etc..... doesn't it look amazing all lit up!

Our one and only worker Mike...he is very loyal and a hard worker;)

DH on the phone where he hates to be but where he spends a lot of his time! Picture edited from a bird towards the camera (lol)!

A shot from the entrance walking into the shop! You see Scarlett our secretary in the background! She is a really cool young girl who does "Roller Derby" more about that later;)

Me trying to get a picture of myself, and a picture of the different outlet choices available!

This was last weekend we did a showing at a local Home Show! This was our very small booth! We need business badly, so we are trying to get some!
This is one of the two door prizes my hubby made! South Carolina is a huge college football state and these two are HUGE rivals! Clemson Tigers above (YUK)!
Then of course the Carolina Gamecocks! "GO COCKS"!!
The only place in the world you hear that daily and never blink an eye about it!
We are struggling ladies! I personally have only been completely involved for the last 3 months and I am exhausted! I am working 7 days a week and the only down time I get in is my blogging! We are hoping a few prayers from my fellow bloggers might help this business get back on it's feet! It's small but we like it and don't want to lose it! I have had to learn about bookkeeping, accounting, pricing, etc.....it's not been easy! The power of prayer is strong and I am hoping you can send them this way even if for just a minute or two!
We love our little business and don't want to lose it! Maybe if those who owed would just pay their bills we could have a moment to breathe!!
Looking ahead with a positive attitude and hoping it all works out fine!
Hugs and love French;)

The Moral of the Story Is.....

A little humor with a good moral!!! This wasn't my original post for today but thought it was too funny not to share! Hope you have a sense of humor and have a good laugh! It's all meant in good fun!!

The Pastor's Ass

The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won.

The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again.

The local paper read:

PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT!

The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day, the local paper headline read:

BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS!

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.

The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day:

NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN!

The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10.

The next day the paper read:

NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10!

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.

The next day the headlines read:

NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE!

The bishop was buried the next day. The moral of the story is... being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery. . .. even shorten your life.

So be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and you'll be a lot happier and live longer!

See even the men of cloth decorate too;)
Hugs and much Love to ALL!!!!
(ps thanks mum for sending me this funny it was a hoot!)

How Many Calories in a Booger?

The Book of Questions continued........

1. What are your most compulsive habits? Do you regularly struggle to break these habits?

2. Do you ever spit or pick your nose in public? What about cleaning your teeth with a toothpick?

3.What if anything is too serious to be joked about?

4. What hurts more? Being hit with a baseball bat or someone questioning your ethics?

5. Do you think you take life too seriously if so how?

6. If you wanted to look very sexy what would you wear? How would you dress?

7. Is there anything too personal to discuss with others?

8. Would you prefer to be blind or deaf?

9. If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, who would you question-- and what would you ask?

10. When you do something ridiculous how much does it bother you to have other people notice it and laugh at you?

Food for thought~~~no need to answer these questions unless of course you want to;)

Just some more silly questions!

Hugs French;)
